You grind through college, spend a few years getting lapped by Kenyans on the international circuit, maybe win a domestic title in your mid-twenties if you&amp;rsquo;re lucky, and eventually — &lt;em&gt;eventually&lt;/em&gt; — you announce yourself to the world.&lt;/p&gt;&#xA;&lt;p&gt;Cooper Lutkenhaus didn&amp;rsquo;t get that memo. Possibly because he was busy studying for exams.&lt;/p&gt;&#xA;&lt;p&gt;This past Sunday in Staten Island, the 17-year-old from Texas strode to the line at the 2026 USATF Indoor Championships, surveyed a field of Olympic medalists and seasoned professionals, and proceeded to win the men&amp;rsquo;s 800 meters in 1:46.68 like he had somewhere better to be. Which, given that his World Indoor Championship appearance in Poland coincides with his school&amp;rsquo;s spring break, he literally does.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
